On Sunday, November 8th, John Searing, Foundation Co-Founder and his father, Jack, will walk the OBX half marathon. They will walk 13.1 miles in memory of Jenny Searing, who passed away at the age of 26 from ovarian cancer, and to raise funds for the Barnett-Searing National Cancer Foundation. Please consider making a donation to commemorate – and encourage – their half marathon walk. The Barnett-Searing National Cancer Foundation was created in memory of Jenny and Mary Barnett, to provide support for cancer patients and their families. The Foundation has raised over $150,000 in the 6 years that it has been existence. Funding has been provided to various hospitals and other non-profits. The Foundation has provided for the following: · Renovation of a hospital cancer center waiting room · Creation of a Cancer Navigator position which specifically assists patients and their families in accessing the available resources throughout their treatment · Funding to expand the Red Devil's programs to the Eastern Shore of Maryland · Assistance for cancer patients with bill paying and transportation during treatments · Researching preventive methods and a cure for cancer · Funding oncology patient support programs John & Jack will walk on November 8, 2008 to assure that cancer patients and their families don't walk alone during their battle with cancer.
